Salman Khan at that time was one of the first few ones who came out for help and little do you know that he's supporting families of 25,000 daily wage workers of the industry.
The FWICE President and General Secretary provided him the list of workers and the procedure of transferring funds began almost immediately.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is leading from the front, helping daily wage labourers in these tough times as the entire industry, as well as country, continues lockdown amid Covid-19 pandemic.
General secretary of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) told in an interview, “Salman personally called me twice, to follow up, after his company’s CEO spoke to the Federation about Salman’s intent to help the workers.”
General Secretary had earlier told HT that Salman was also helping women and senior workers who did not have personal bank accounts, “There are around 800 women workers with us and 40 of them do not have any bank accounts. We decided to build a separate database for them and sent them to Salman. There are people around the age of 70-80 who do not have bank accounts. We have procured account details of their relatives and sent them to Salman sir.”
Through out the lockdown Salman transferred money in personal accounts of daily wage workers every month.
